Fort Bend County’s courts make decisions that can alter the course of people’s lives. A misdemeanor case, a family dispute, a guardianship or a civil claim is never just another file. Behind every case are people who deserve to be heard, treated with dignity and judged fairly under the law.

For Judge of Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 6, Fort Bend Truth & Times endorses Stephen Longoria.

Longoria brings more than three decades of legal experience to the race. He began his career in the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as an assistant district attorney after graduating from law school. He says he has since represented both the prosecution and the defense in misdemeanor and felony courts across Texas. That experience on both sides of the courtroom gives him a practical understanding of how legal decisions affect defendants, victims, families and the community.

That balanced perspective matters in Court at Law No. 6. Fort Bend County’s county courts handle misdemeanor criminal cases, civil matters, juvenile issues, probate, guardianships and other proceedings. The judge must apply the law impartially while managing a demanding docket and ensuring that people understand what is happening in court.

Longoria has made fairness, efficiency and accountability central to his campaign. He says every person should be treated with dignity and respect, every case should be decided on its facts and the law, and court dockets should be managed responsibly so families are not left waiting. These are not partisan goals. They are basic expectations for a court that serves the whole county.

A judge must also have the temperament to listen, the discipline to follow the law and the independence to resist political pressure. Longoria’s years as both a prosecutor and defense attorney provide a foundation for that responsibility. His campaign emphasizes a courtroom free from bias and political influence, with decisions grounded in the record before the court.

Residents should be able to enter a courtroom knowing they will receive a fair hearing, regardless of their background, income or circumstances. Longoria’s experience and stated commitment to equal treatment make him the stronger choice for Court at Law No. 6.
